The ocean became the beating thing within me; the landscape, the animals, the skies, the sloping waves of soil became my garments, and I walked shrouded in my old elements...
- Leanne O'Sullivan, from 'Cailleach: the Hag of Beara'
I am a writer, an activist, and a member of the Druid Network. I like interfaith action, social justice action, writing poetry, reading non-fiction and science fiction, cult TV, and tea. Urban druidry, and exploring the secret liminal places of the city, is a particular passion. I blog at Treasure in Barren Places. You will find me online as Léithin Cluan* (a name borrowed from an Irish myth).
I'm very interested in Cailleach Bhéarra, specifically in her form as a tutelary deity of the Beara peninsula, where my family comes from. I love the landscape, folklore and stories of West Cork.
*Note: 'Léithin' is pronounced 'lay-in'. At least in some dialects of Gaelic!
